USCIS issued an email notice of the extension of the Liberian Refugee Immigration Fairness (LRIF) program. This program was extended by law and was set to end December 20, 2020. Congress decided to extend the program, which was hindered by the pandemic, and it will now end on December 20, 2021. Unless extended, all applications must be received by that new date.
The full USCIS email is reprinted below.
The filing period for certain Liberian nationals and certain family members to apply for adjustment of status under the Liberian Refugee Immigration Fairness (LRIF) provision has been extended from one year to two years (see Sec. 901. Extension of Period for Adjustment of Status for Certain Liberian Nationals of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021). If you are applying to adjust status based on LRIF, you must properly file Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, and we must receive it by Dec. 20, 2021.
We will update the Special Instructions for Liberian Refugee Immigration Fairness Applicants and Form I-485 Instructions, as well as any other USCIS LRIF-related policies to reflect this change.
